William Rypcinski is the Research Services Analyst for the Smoking
Cessation Leadership Center (SCLC) at the University of California,
San Francisco. He oversees completion of all financial duties
of the SCLC, including financial analysis, accounting, and set-up
of contracts, grants, and interagency agreements totaling over
$10 million.
Prior to joining the SCLC in May 2006, William served as the
Finance Manager for the UCLA Center for Healthier Children,
Families, and Communities. At UCLA, he has gained experience
working in pre and post-award administration of research awards
from various federal, state, and private funding agencies, including
National Science Foundation, National Institute for Health,
First 5 Association of California, The Commonwealth Fund, and
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Prior to his position as a Finance
Manager, he worked in the UCLA Graduate School of Education
& Information Studies and the UCLA Center for Health Policy
Research. In addition to working full-time as finance professional
at UCLA, he participated and completed the UCLA Staff Enrichment
Program. This is a voluntary skill-building program that offers
participants career training and the opportunity to work on
special team projects with employees from various departments
on campus. Acceptance into this program is extremely competitive,
as only 20 employees from the University may participate each
year.
Prior to William’s experience at UCLA, he worked as an
Interactive Media Planner for Grey Direct West and Beyond Interactive,
both subsidiaries of Grey Advertising. His responsibilities
included online ad analysis, media buying, marketing optimization,
and reporting, researching, and planning for advertising campaigns.
William has worked on ad campaigns for Automobile Club of Southern
California, Los Angeles Times, City National Bank, Bizbuyer.com,
Answers.com,
William also worked at US Marketing & Promotions as a Program
Coordinator for the company’s “Proctor & Gamble
Team.” William trained staff and researched opportunities
to execute in-store consumer product demonstrations. William
was responsible for promoting such products as Pantene Shampoo,
Swiffer, and Febreze Freshener in the territories of Virginia
and West Virginia. He also co-managed the 1999 Febreze National
Tour across 12 states.
William graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in
1998 with a bachelor of science in marketing.
