The American Lung Association has just released their 2026 State of Tobacco Control report. This year’s report highlights the impact of the virtual elimination of CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health, cuts to the workforce at FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products and delays in funding to states on the progress of tobacco control. The report also shows the progress (or lack thereof) states have made on tobacco control policies over the last year. No state has received all A grades and every state has room to improve their policies.
The American Lung Association is calling on the federal government to fully restore critical tobacco control programs, including CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health.
