This report evaluates states and the federal government on the proven-effective tobacco control laws and policies necessary to save lives. The ALA assigns letter grades, A through F, to the state and federal policies best proven to prevent and reduce tobacco use. This year's report highlights tobacco industry aggression at the state and federal level to protect its profits at the expense of the public's health.

Dana E. Christofferson, PhD
Dr. Dana Christofferson is the Deputy Director of the Tobacco Use Treatment National Program Office for the VA Health Care System. Dana is responsible for developing policy, managing national initiatives, including VA’s quitline and text message programs, and overseeing program evaluation efforts in the VA health care system to provide Veterans with high quality, evidence-based, tobacco use treatment.
